Quote: Guess it is a good thing that I loaded up when an ounce of silver was four bucks and change! Yeah, most of what I have was <$3. I have OBW rolls of Franklin halves marked "2.5x". Those were the days.

Good for you! Just a note people keep forgetting. Silver is nowhere near the 50.00 high it hit in 1980 b/c of dollar devaluation over time. In 1980 it was 50.00 an ounce form the Hunt brothers influence. From: https://www.usinflationcalculator.comYou can calculate that would be just under 170.00 an ounce in 2025 money! Doing it in reverse, $45.00 in 2025 dollars is only $11.45 in 1980 dollars.

All right, it looks like silver just hit $46, so whatever happens from here on out is not my fault...

Instead, I think people just remember that it was due to market manipulation (as you pointed out) and didn't last for very long at all. As a result, it's not really comparable to the current situation which appears to be more organic and has the potential to keep going higher instead of just suddenly spiking and then dropping back down.

Well, the coins were just delivered (a few days earlier than expected) and they are absolutely beautiful! Each one is truly Brilliant Uncirculated with lots of cartwheel luster. At some point I will carefully go through them to see if there are any interesting dates and/or mint marks. I'd check for VAMs, except I really don't know anything about them and wouldn't know what to look for, sorry... As I mentioned in my original post, I have no idea why I was able to pick these up for $55 per coin at APMEX by buying 100 of them individually when they are selling rolls of 20 (identical to the rolls I received) for $1400 and rolls of 10 for $700. As far as I can tell, they really are the exact same -- random dates (1878-1904) in BU condition. Not that I'm complaining, mind you... Oh, right -- pictures! And just one representative close up:

Thanks for the pics! Nice looking coins and don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but definitely not uncirculated if the close up coin is any indication of what you have received.

And in other news, I think I finally figured out why the pre-packaged tubes of 10 and 20 random year BU Morgans were on sale for significantly more than the ones I purchased "in bulk." It turns out that the pre-packaged tubes are not actually "random" years but are instead "10 different dates" and "20 different dates," respectively. Which means, I guess, that you won't get any duplicate dates despite the fact that you also aren't likely to get any particularly rare or valuable dates/mint marks.
I suppose that's important if you are working on an album and want as many different dates as possible, but I wouldn't pay extra for that, personally.
