Here's a GW dollar that was just found out of an OBW roll with the edge lettering incused twice. Each set is equal distanced apart. It looks like this all the way around the edge. Weird looking! Obviously the coin went through the edge lettering equipment twice.

Cool. That's a real error, unlike the "upside-down edge lettering" bull being posted on Ebay.

I found four GW's with the 's' in States filled. Are they keepers?

It's good to see a real error on one of these coins! Great find!
In your opinion, do you think we'll be seeing a lot of so-called errors and varieties like we have on the State quarters?

Yes, I believe we will be seeing many types of errors on these Prez dollars. Here's a few I would be looking for:
(1) Planchet with the edge lettering.
(2) No edge lettering. Already one up on auction.
(3) Down the road next year watch out for wrong edge lettering for 2008 Prez dollars.
(4) Since the Sac and GW are of the same composition, size, etc., watch for a 2007 Sac with edge lettering on it. As we know, the Sac does not have edge lettering. However, what if a Sac accidentally was left over in a bin and got mixed with the Prez dollars and then that Sac or Sacs went thru the edge lettering equipment. Bingo -- that would be another major error.
With the Mint having to produce so many and with the now extra step in the process -- this just allows more opportunities for errors to happen.
And that's what we are seeing already even at this early juncture.

At this early stage, it is extremely difficult to predict. However, the way things are going -- if they were mine I would at least put them aside for the time being and see what happens.

That would be something I'd have to have for my collection, if one ever appears.

Thank you Billy G, I was planning on putting them aside. However, I don't really have much interest in error coins, but it sure was FUN finding them.

Hey DieVarieties that is probably the only true error I have seen from the DG$. now we can all say that we have seen a true DG$ error. and I also agree with you on the Sac getting the edge letter (hope I find one of them) have you seen them coins on ebay missing the letters? what is your take on them? i.e. fake or real? thanks Gary

How could I miss them? I think as I write this there are probably over 400 auctions on them. I would say most are probably the real deal.
I spoke with Eric von Klinger at Coin World magazine. Eric informed me that he and Paul Gilkes were invited guest of the Mint to watch the new edge lettering machine during actual production. Eric stated that they witnessed many struck coins and blanks all over the floor and that somebody could easily/accidentally put them back on the conveyor belt and the struck coin with edge lettering would go through the lettering machine again.
That is exactly what we see on this coin.
