Here is a stunner that I received today on consignment. Priced as a cheap house, but worth every last cent. Call the morgage company and reserve this one today!

Nice to see such a nice and rare 6-figure speciman. So what do you think it will go for? $100K? $120K?, more?

Wow! Thanks for sharing. This is one of the things I love about this hobby. When I see a high dollar value coin like this I like to check the mintage and price listed in the Bluesheet. It's neat to make comparisons against the other coins. A P/65 1881-S with a mintage of 12+ million you can buy all day for $75-$100. But a 1892-S, mintage 1.2 miliion will cost around $85K+! The year before the mintage was 5.2+ million and cost around $850. Check out the price for a 1899 Morgan with a mintage of only 330,00 as compared to the ones I listed. SURPRISE!!

I think it's at least 120K.(a very cheap house these days depending on where you live!) These coins in this grade rarely come to auction. They create a "feeding frenzy" on the block when they do. From one auction to another in a year or two, they can go up 20-30K. Interesting that toning is minimal. Someone(or more properly everyone) took very good care of this coin over the years protecting it from excessive toning. Mike

Hot town summer in the city, back of my neck gettin' dirty and gritty. Cool cat lookin' for a kitty dressed so fine and a lookin'so pretty. All around the people lookin' half dead walkin' on the sidewalk hotter than a matchhead "Summer in the city","Lovin'Spoonful"

This is one example that you may as well throw out the price guides. Greysheet is 125,000 with an ask of 140,000. The last two available at auction brought 135,000 and 142,000 respectively, and this coin was purchased last year privately, so it will be fetching a bit more.
There just aren't many of these coins to go around. I have recommended that this coin go to the Bowers Auction in Dec, but I have made it available in the meantime. The current price is $145,000.

Ya know ND- my birthday is coming up fast, and wouldn't that make a nice present? That'd fill up that nasty hole in my album nicely thank you!

Another great reason to win the darned lottery! Boy I would go on a coin buying spree that a great number of dealers would remember for a long time, including ND!!
