Rumors have been floating around about Anacs moving to a "new and improved" slab. I have not heard directly from Mr. Taylor, but many others are spreading the word that he has in fact stated that by the FUN show, we could see new holders.
Of course, I would love to see normal size holders with the intercept shield like those used by his old company ICG.
Anyone else hear of this rumor? Anyone spoken to Mr. Taylor lately?

I know that he has been "testing the waters" and getting some opinions. As far as I know, no decisions have been made yet.

I'd love to start a new rumor: ANACS will reslab its current holders into the new ones for nothing.
All kidding aside, if the rumor of new slabs proves true, it'll solve many collectors' storage dilemma. Right now, I have to use PCGS slabs as "bookends" for my ANACS coins.

I say leave the slab alone.

Alternatively, the "old" slabs could be promoted as being undergraded similar to PCGS's old green labels which tend to draw a little more value.
I'm certain ANACS will seriously weigh all the pro's and con's before making any change. I have little doubt that it will place numismatists' interests ahead of other considerations.

I sure hope that they do change. These little slabs make it difficult to transport.

When I pack for a show, I use NGC boxes. They hold both NGC and PCGS holders very nicely. I am obsessive-compulsive about being orderly, so I arrange the coins based on series, date, grade, and so on. Very neat and orderly. Anacs holders are quite a bit smaller than those of the other services, and DO NOT fit well in the plastic boxes. It makes counting harder, and just not easy to deal with.
Now I agree that they should be different in appearance. I am hoping that they will not mirror those of ICG, but will incorporate the technical advantages. Just closer in size to the other three, so storage, and easy access is obtainable.
With the number of changes going on at Anacs, under the leadership of Mr. Taylor I fully expect to see some great things out of Anacs.

The white in the holder makes it easier to photograph though

Now these are unedited. You can use photoshop and other programs to eliminate the slab.
