How do you feel about the removal of In God We Trust from our Money ?

There is to be a lawsuit filed by an athiest for that purpose !

Michael Newdow plans to ask a federal court to order removal of the national motto "In God We Trust" from U.S. coins and currency. He said it violates the religious rights of atheists who belong to his "First Amendment Church of True Science."

The church's "three suggestions" are "question, be honest and do what's right." Newdow said it wouldn't be right to take up a collection when the money says "In God We Trust."

Last year, the Supreme Court dismissed Newdow's lawsuit over the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance because he doesn't have custody of his daughter, in whose name the lawsuit was filed.

Newdow has resurrected that case by filing an identical lawsuit on behalf of two families.

I tend to think that Newdow is a pompous, self-righteous jerk that only cares about getting his name in the media. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals already sided with this dolt and declared the fricken Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional. That is just rediculous. If we ban "In God We Trust" from money, why stop there? Why not just get rid of every religious symbol in the US, like the big marble carving of Moses on the SCOTUS building? Why not start taxing churches? Where does it end?

Last time I checked, a supermajority of the US population described themselves as Christian. Forcefully removing every religious symbol from a society can be just as bad as imposing a state religion. Both are tyrannical and IMO decidedly unamerican.

I have an idea for this jerk, he can send all of his dirty "In God We Trust" money to Coin Community and we will put it to good use

Well if he can get "In God We Trust" off of the money then why can't we get the dead Presidents off the money as quite a few Americans ARE NOT political and believe politics breeds nothing but power and corruption? There, how's that?
Personally, I don't think there are too many people in the world care one way or another, regardless of their religious beliefs. This is just another example of a self appointed, self proclaimed "savior of us all" getting his perverted views in the limelight and another lawyer who would do anything for money! We don't have a judicial system any longer as it has turned into a legal system where he who has the most money can win as long as the lawyers and judges win with them!

You can't have a state religion unless it's specific. "God" is not specific to any religion.

I am surprised this d**** is still making waves. Hopefully, soon, his batteries will die off after a few cases he loses.. As much right he has NOT to have "In GOD We Trust" on our coins, I have as much a RIGHT as a religious man, to KEEP IT!! I am surprised with all the weirdos running around in Cal that somebody has not put this dog out of his misery!

We have animal rights activists and eco-terrorists protecting all the stray dogs in this country and to top it all off----people actually send them millions of dollars to live like kings under the pretense they are helping something! What a joke!

Have any of you noticed the steady decline in morality as God and religion have been pulled out of the schools? The entire situation disgusts me. By all means, let's remove God from our money, too. America is becoming morally bereft and I see no end in sight as long as lawsuits like this one continue.

His Lawsuit in my opinion is just a waste of time and a way for the "spotlight" however my dim it is, to shine on this dork. I basically ignore him. This country was founded on religous beliefs.
Like someone said today (can't remember) "Lawsuits like this are about as useful and sucessful as using a wet vac on the Titanic".

Although I think this guy is a bit of a crack pot,, I also see our system bending to such people !

This type of thing could not have advanced or gained momentum without the help of our judiciary failing horribly to protect the contitution which they swore to do .

Im tired of the hypocrites who denounce America and continue to live here ! Who denounce our History ,Heritage, and now our money but continue to use the capitalistic system to further there agenda !

Why dont these guys quit using the money that offends them so much? why dont they stop accepting the money that offends them so much ?
At least at that point I could allow them some credibility in their actions.

But as irritated as Iam at this BS,, Im even more irritated that the opposing view point will not stand and stop the decline of this country !

We should remove "In God We Trust" at once! And replace it with Jerry Springer rocks."

The case will pribably be heard here, so there is still hope:

California's 9th Circuit Court has a 95-percent reversal rate far exceeded the national average of 71 percent and "earned the Western circuit [the 9th Circuit] its reputation as the nation's 'most reversed,' " according to a July 3, 2004, Sacramento Bee article.

It has been called the "nutty ninth".

I can understand the Constitutional questions this guy brings up, but really, is this the pressing issue of our time? Is this really the most useful way to expend a lot of energy for "social progress?" Seems like a colossal waste of tax dollars to tie this up in the courts.

What would they replace it with? "All Others Pay Cash?"

As for the 9th Circuit, yes, there are no district courts that can come close to this one when it comes to legislating from the bench.

Just heard this morning that a fan of the Tampa Bay Bucs refused to be searched before entereing the stadium so now the Tampa Bay organization has ruled the searches must be halted. Again one man/woman with a big mouth can make major changes with the threat of a lawsuit. And, every terrorist in the U.S. now knows they will not be searched entering Tampa's stadium. I would much rather take my kids to a ballgame today knowing that EVERYONE was searched, just the same, regardless or race, nationality or dress when entering the stadium. Like it or not we don't live in the same world we did 10 years ago and this one idiot full of pride has set the stage for a disaster in Tampa without any thoughts what so ever of the other fans and their children at the same event. If he didn't want to be patted down he should have stayed home and watched the game on the TV! And so the Tampa organization and the NFL justs folds and throws in the towel? That really sends a statement doesn't it?

Also heard another good one this morning. The Governor of the State of Indiana has announced the SMOKE FREE zone around all state buildings will START being enforced at all times. If you want to light up you MUST cross the road and be at least 50 feet from the building UNLESS you are a LAWMAKER? And, of course the lawmakers will also keep their nice warm smoking lounge inside the state capital building. What a crock of c**p and a typical example of DISCRIMINATION at its finest. Time to clean out a big nest of over paid idiots all over this country!! What does it take to really get voters to REMEMBER anything come election time?

Well that's a health "issue." You see we don't want people gagging on second hand smoke while they're busy microwaving their brain fluids with a cell phone.

When can I sue cell phone makers for second-hand microwaves?

I'll see your smoke free zone and raise you one

The state of Ohio wants to make all public buildings smoke free
"As we begin the countdown to November 7, 2006- the day Ohioans will vote to make all public places smoke free
