I ran across this auction when it only had about
10 minutes left. I didn't have any time to study
up, but the bid looked awful cheap for a decent
CC dime. So, I threw a bid at it to see if it stuck,
very nervously, and it did. So did I do okay?

While you folks answer, I am off to study 77cc dimes!
A coin I know nothing about!
Sometimes I wonder why in the world I bid on some things.

Thanks for your opinion or info on this coin.
Dave

This dime would go for $35+ here.. If I were you.. I'd also buy it Although the photos are small, I hope it's not a bogus coin.

Looks nicer than the one I own, Ratio!

Also, the coin holder it's in looks to be from 1877 as well. Did they drive a truck over that thing before they took the pic?

For the price a pretty decent buy.Larger coin holder was probably what he had all his coins in.
Let us know when you get it if you are satisfied.

Interesting, that is pretty cheap. Perhaps the lousy distant photos scared off bidders and the fact that the seller has not had a sale in almost 1 1/2 years. I see something where the mintmark should be but I certainly cannot see that it is a CC. However, ~$20 is not much to gamble so good luck

Thanks folks, that is encouraging.

I really fretted over bidding on it for all the reasons
mentioned. I didn't want to be the first buyer of an
account that has been sitting so long it didn't have
a feedback rating. I also worried over the tiny pics.

In the end, at 20 seconds, when I normally bid, I said
no. Then at 8 seconds my hand clicked it before I could
think again. I hope it was a good move. We'll see.

I will surely be pleased if it is truly an F or better
detailed coin.

Thanks for the support!
I'll resurrect this thread with a pic of the coin later.

This is pretty much the same exact thing I've been doing as well. Except I usually try to do it in the middle of the night when not many people are watching.

The dime came today and I am really happy with it!

The front has a full and detailed "Liberty", along
with some fine detail left on the shield. Liberty's
head and breasts are flat, but some nice detail is
remaining. It doesn't appear to ever have been cleaned.

The back has details that my first scans did not pick
up on. The ear of corn to the right has the kernels
visible on it. One of the fine details not picked up
by the scan.

If I can get my scanner to cooperate, I'll post pics
in the grading forum and see if we can settle on a grade.

I know nothing about this series, but I would have to
say it is at least a solid 'fine', just as the seller
was portraying.

You lucky dog you, that was a nice gamble
That is a georgeous CC with a "circulated cameo" effect
If you are saying that some of the finer details did not scan, I could see that as a VF

Thanks!

I posted some bigger pics in the "Grade it" forum.
They are definitely better pics, but still somewhat
fuzzy.
