Greetings Everybody,

As you may know, the Denver Mint recently observed their 100th Anniversary with a relatively-short ceremony.

Why they didn't see fit to issue a commemorative coin or medal for this milestone is unknown. Over a year ago I wrote to Congress, the US Mint, and Coin World suggesting that legislation be passed authorizing Denver Mint centennial coins. And while the San Francisco Mint will see a commemorative coin this year (regarding the 1906 earthquake), no action was taken on my proposal and no one in the public or government supported it.

I have no direct connection to the Denver Mint, other than that I am a Denver native, I was born not far from the Denver Mint, and I've visited there several times.

So, a couple months ago I drove down to the Mint (on a quiet Sunday) and took several pictures of the building's exterior. The security guards kept a close eye on me (from a distance) as I stuck my camera through the fence to take pictures.

Since the Denver Mint wasn't issuing anything for their centennial, I decided that I would !

I took those pictures and used them to design (and mint) a centennial token.

And here it is in brass:

And silver:

Even if they did a memorial, it wouldn't be as stunning as your work. Amazing.

Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and good with mustard.

I own Australian coins, too.

As I've stated before, you do wonderful work.

This fellow Coloradoan will want one of your medals.

Found Daniel's web site and guess what? Saved myself a tank of gasoline.

Better hurry Sir Gary, there won't be any left by the time you get there.

The Pony Express arrived today and he left me a package containing the two Denver Mint 100th Anniversary coins.
Let me start off by saying I have never seen a better job of design and detail than is represented here on these coins. The pictures were good, but to actually have them in hand, make the coins look even better.

It is my oppinion that Daniel should NOT go to work for the U.S. Mint, but rather they the mint should go to work for Daniel. He is light years ahead of anything I've seen come out of the mint. In design and mintage techniques. They are almost beyond description and I simply can't say enough good things about them.

In 65 years of purchasing and trading for coins, this is my best accusition, by far!A very happy camper!

Wow, thanks for the great review !
Too bad you don't work in the HR department at the Mint. I've applied, on four separate occasions, for 26 open positions at the Mint related to coinage design. But I never got an interview or a phone call. And they still haven't sent back all the application materials and physical samples I sent last June. But I'd still, at least, entertain the idea if offered a job there.

As it is, I'm really enjoying designing and issuing my own items without having somebody looking over my shoulder.
