Just received my first St. George fighting with the dragon. He's on the back of a British George VI "Festival of Britain Crown coin" minted in 1951. The coin is made of niclel and silver and has lettering around the edge of the coin. Very interesting and the start of a new line of collecting. Here is a shot of the coin:

Well Done Dan.

I am glad you have found such a strong interest in the lighter Darkside.

Hey OldDan, great to see your interest in things knightly is proceeding well. Keep up the good work!

FYI: There's no silver in that there coin - Britain gave "real silver" the flick just after the War. Your coin is made of "nickel silver", also known as copper-nickel or cupronickel.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Hi Ole Dan, Dewey-habiru001 here, St. George is a real favorite- Killing the dragon etc; Grt Brt coinage has been a keen interest of mine for several years- and I will pass this tid-bit about this George on to this forum- This George on the back of the UK coins is the patron saint of Grt Brt which some of you may know- However, He was converted to Christianity during Emperor Diocletian's reign and Diocletian of course was Crucifying hundreds of christians daily. This George had a chance to recant-and deny christianity but refused to do so- consequently Diocletian had him Crucified. He is still riding that beautiful steed down the trail of time on their coinages. (a Real Favorite) habiru001
