Apparently the RAM made a mistake when packaging the set and a 2005 Mob of Roos was substituted into the 2006 set .. ....this has now come to light and Downies is asking big dollars for this set. I have had a look at mine and I am not one of the lucky ones....
Have a Read from Downies

Wow! There is going to be questions asked about this "mistake".
I wonder how downies worked out the $1995 price? Anyway for 20 sets that's a $40,000 winfall to Downies, thank you very much. I'm sure some members of the Staff at the Royal Australian Mint will expect a little extra present in their Christmas stocking from there big customer Downies.
How many coins does the mint press with the proof dies before they change them? There must be more around, or did Downies get the only 20? Move over 1930 penny, A proof 2005 Mob of Roo's!

I told you a while back the 2005 Mob of Roos I purchased out of Australia looked like a PROOF coin to me! Will have to give it another hard look as I said, and still say, someone at your mint ACCIDENTLY put proof dies in the machine and after discovering the error they decided to keep minting the 2005 Roo in an effort to kill the secondary market and cover up an embarrassing mistake!
Also might point out my wife bought her 2006 Australian proof set from DOWNIES! Can't wait to dig that baby out of hiding to see what she got!

I've told the Aussie forum that you are checking if it is indeed a proof. Wow, what a find.

This one is a toughie! The 2005 Mob of Roos that I have is an exceptional coin! Very near proof, but not quite, but way to good for a business strike coin. I still believe these 2005 Mob of Roos were made with proof dies which would account for the extremely high quality of the finish yet not the normal double struck proof coin. (I assume the Aussie Mint strikes their proofs more than once as the U.S. does?) Either way I am still very proud of this coin that I paid so dearly to get shipped to the U.S. and can't wait for RAM to finally confess to what actually happened with the 2005 dollars!

Checked both sets, no luck, they're 2006.

It is confirmed the Mob of Roos in this error set is a proof condition coin. In proof condition, this coin is going to put a "hole" in the collections of many Aussie decimal dollar collectors.

Did they say anything else.
Is it not funny they have the only 20 known to exist?
