China Practice Banknote? A What?!

What is this thing supposed to be? I have seen a few of these "China Practice Banknotes" floating on eBay lately.

it's what the listing says:
"This note is used by the Bank of China for practice training. THIS NOTE IS NOT LEGAL TENDER."

Australia had them when we re-monetized in 1966.

I guess if someone were to start out tomorrow at a bank, at the level of trainee cashier/teller, you might discover that something similar exists now.

Yep. It's "training money", used by banks in China to teach new staff how to handle large amounts of money without giving out bundles of actual cash for them to practise with, which the bank would later have to retrieve.

My friend's father is a banker in China. When he came to visit Canada he brought me this catalog of World Money
that the tellers use as reference to compare coins and currency that is deposited.
