Have an opportunity to purchase this coin for the just over $300. Thoughts?

Pictures are not the best....a little bit white. Have NOT seen it in hand.

They want that much for THAT? It looks granular... in both senses...the photo seems pixelated or grainy and the metal appears to be crudely polished. In fact, some of Linclon's jacket looks downright XF or worse... Danger, Will Robinson...avoid! avoid! Save your money, there are other 1915s out there....

$300 is full retail price for a MS65RB. The price seems very high from what can be seen in the images.

Their pictures are always a little of what has been said above - pixelated and whitewash.

If this were to grade MS65Red, it is a huge upside......but this dealer would not miss that.

Thanks!

Insist on a grade from a TPG you trust first, before paying money, something is strange looking about this coin, not sure if it's the photos or the coin, but it doesn't sit right with me.

I don't like the surfaces and color. Does not appear original. Agree with others.

Generally, it's a nice looking cent. 1915's are TOUGH coins to find in the higher grades, almost on par with finding a high grade 14D. However, I think the pictures are off. Personally, I wouldn't want to drop $300 until I could see better pictures that accurately represent the coin.

Thad, would the die be that wore to make it look 'mushy' like that?, it looks like Liberty is doubled.

Yes, it's a LDS for sure. In 1915 they "resharpeded" the master hub so the working dies were generally pretty sharp with nice detail. However, The motto and LIBERTY are not very sharp and I can see what I call "stretch marks" around the bust. This is usually due to a late die state.

Check out the beard detail in one of my 1915-D cents:

Then check out a LDS 1915-D:

This 1915 sold for $172.38 and, to me, is far superior to the one you're considering. Particularly the lines in the wheat.

Maybe, too bad it's GSC, the pro photo juicers, experts at making problem coins into gems and selling them at inflated prices.

hmmm I really didnt know that about GSC. I guess I will always make sure to stay away from them.

as to the coin on hand its a nice coin but there is some rim damage to it with a few marks to my best grade would be a 64. but with the pictures provided I would want to at least look at the coin in hand or get some sharper pictures. just tell them to take some pictures like I do then you will know for sure. Then try to get it for around 150.

also there is some discoloring under liberty probably an old carbon spot or something.
