I'm new here, so I don't know if this is going in the right spot or not, or if this topic has been covered to death. But...
Some of the cool stuff I got in change from purchases are:
1964 quarter from a Dunkin Donuts 1664 dime from a Walmart 1942 Mercury dime from a Walmart 1936 Buffalo nickel from a Dunkin Donuts
It's been a few years since I've found anything worth keeping, but I always look. Of course I'm not up to date on rarity coins.

If I lived in your area I'd be eating a lot of doughnuts and shopping at Wal-Mart constantly.

Was that 1664 a "which head" dime from Salem? Very rare!

to the forum gillie - I too always look at my change. Mostly look for silver & wheat cents. Old habit I guess. This doesn't fall into either category but had to rescue it when I got it in change last week.

Quote: I'm a little suspicious about that 1664 dime ;) So you found one of those rare. May well be one of the first ones made by the Indians to buy stuff from those settlers. Naturaly just kidding. Simple typo, or is it? If from Walmart though, you never know. With your good luck you should be going there all the time.

Yes, it was a simple typo. I meant 1964 dime. Thanks for all of the warm welcomes, and no I am not a police officer. I was in the Marines for four years and I was a state correctional officer for about a year until I got tired of all that non-sense.
I also keep getting these red cents, not sure what the significance is yet, but I need to go back into my "junk" pile and dig em' out. I saw that someone on here was getting excited about them. I also need to go back through my nickel "junk" pile as I remember seeing several from the 50's in there. Guess I had no clue what was worth keeping.
It is always a learning process.
