What the different between business an proof strike?

I being collecting pocket change and was wondering the different between pocket change and proof? I found a 1981s clear of Susan b Anthony and the dealer told me it worth $1 and I want to know what the different too a clear proof.? And should I sell my pocket change or use it as it is?

Great find! A photo of both sides would help too to grade it, if you want to determine approximate grade and value.

Depending upon the condition and if it is a type 1 or type 2 coin, will determine if it is worth more than a $1 or not.

Use macro, no flash, keep the camera rock steady. Even with these pix, I'd say not a proof, no mirror surfaces.

It is a business strike, but the 1981 SBA's were not issued for circulation. Your coin has been pulled out of a mint set or a souvenir dollar set and spent.

If you don't have a tripod, keep your elbows steady on the table.

Even if the coin was BU, it is only worth about $3-$5 at the very most.

The clear mintmark is only for the San Francisco proofs and yours isn't a proof.

On the obverse, just above the date to the right, is the mintmark.
