I've been wanting one of these coins for years, and it arrived today!
It's toned darker than the seller's pic indicated, but I prefer that over blast-white silver. It's full weight--17.12 gr--that's good too.
I especially like the detail on the owl. It has a few surface issues, but that's to be expected...I'm happy!

Thanks...I've been lucking out getting ancients I really like!
I wanted a well-centered owl that didn't have any test cuts, but at $500 or less.
I think I found a good compromise at my upper limit.

The coin is in about the same condition as mine, but is a bit more archaic in style than mine.

A very satisfying coin to include in a collection of ancients.

My advice is to keep all of the sales documentation to help establish provenance. I do that with all high value numismatic items.

Kurt, Nice coin for sure. I too want to get an Owl Tetradrchm one of these days. Its just such an iconic coin in my opinion.

I am curious though what size is it comparable too in relation to US coins?

Hi!
Have US stamp accumulations to get rid of? PM me, maybe we can work something out.

Congratulations on obtaining that coin. Nice details.

I wouldn't even want to touch that series of coins. I heard there are a lot of fakes and it's hard to tell sometimes.

This coin is 24mm at the widest point--almost the size of a US quarter.
Good idea on keeping a record of provenance.

As for authenticity You should only buy this coin from a trusted dealer.
I bought this from Cerberus coins--I'm certain it's authentic.

Wow, it's bigger than I'd thought. I figured it was dime or nickel sized. Wouldn't have thought quarter-sized.

BTW got your giveaway coin today DV! I am surprised at how nicely detailed it is, and it is a good circulated color, with no distracting marks or anything. Thank you! (got it along with the Marcian I bought, so it was a good mail day for me! )
