Hi. Does anyone have any ideas on what happened to the face of this coin? It's in decent shape and doesn't appear to be damage but I thought I'd ask for opinions.

Thanks for the welcome!

The best I can tell is that is slighty raised. I used a light to view it and there is a tiny shadow when the light is placed at an angle. I wish I wouldn't have sold my 105 micro lens now!

If it is raised I would suspect it to be a genuine error
No doubt there will be someone along far more knowledgeable than me in this area soon

Circular scratches at the center of an older dime can typically be attributed to storage in a dime bank. Metal gouges can be raised on one side due to displacement from the gouge itself, a better picture of the mark would help.

They're exactly the right spot for damage from a dime bank or similar. I've seen many dimes with damage just like that.
