Granted that I am a relative newcomer, but if I had seen the auction I would have been tempted had I wanted to add such a piece to my collection. However, I wouldn't have been tempted at the price that was paid.
For some reason I would be thinking that the CSA had coins. I know that they printed their bills on rice paper that is decaying as time passes.
It is a curiousity but again not at the price paid. If it was me I would be royally hacked right now at someone (wouldn't know whom).
It happens all the time with fantasy pieces. I like Chinese fantasy coins, but I would be very hesitant to purchase one without doing my research first or having someone look at it.
