Bear with me here. 1st, look at this auction.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-MARDI-GRA...em1c24a7844c

My dad gave his friend back east (Rochester, N.Y.), a box of maybe
200-300 pieces of exonumia in the late '70s. This was for a boy scout
fund raiser. I'm doing some spring cleaning and wanted to know what these were going for these days, which lead me to this auction.
Now look at this pic. Just took it from a token in a binder next to my desk. Same as the one on the right. My dad's handwriting. No telling how many times it's changed hands. From Ca. to NY to Maryland, and getting ready to take off again.

Kind of like tracking a "where's George" dollar bill.

Hey that is very cool! I have a similar story...

I got into chess heavily in college. I come back for Christmas, and after dinner I was given a present by my Grandfather to open in front of everyone. The box contained a very beautiful handmade chess board. My uncle Rob, a master wood worker, jumps out of his chair and takes the board right out of my hands. He says, "I can't believe it!"

We say, "What?"

He says, "I made this board 27 years ago and sold it at a flea market in Dallas."

My Grandpa says, "That is impossible, I bought that chess board at an airport in Fiji five years ago."

After explaining to us the types of wood it was made of, and exactly how he made it, my uncle runs over to a mirror and takes it off the wall. He says, "This mirror is made from the same lumber as the chess board."

Sure enough, you could see the exact same grains and knots in both pieces.

No, I'm not buying them back, even though that BIN is reasonable. The earlier ones are sought. I have them here 2 or 10 times over.
I contacted the seller and he doesn't remember getting them. He offered them and a spelling bee
champion medal to me thinking they might be nostalgic. I still cant spell.
