Hey guys,

I went and picked up my first nickel box today and this is what I came up with--

Out of 50 rolls:

33 pre-1959
1 wartime nickel
0 buffalos

1940
1940-d
1941 x2
1942
1942-s (wartime)
1946 x2
1947
1947-s
1949
1949-d
1951-d
1953
1953-s
1953-d
1954-s x2
1954-d
1954
1955-d
1956-d x4
1957-d
1958-d x5
1959-dx2

Here's a picture of the wartime nickel:

Question for the hunters out there -- Are any other dates I pulled desirable dates?

Thanks guys--!

42S is not one of the easier ones to find. Congratulations on a decent box!

That is a nice box to start with!

You have two coins in this first box that are worthy of some bragging rights ... some observations from my data at 268,400 USA nickels searched ...

Your 1942 (Cu/Ni) coin is a relatively tough find ... I find one every 5260 coins searched ... that's one 1942 every 131 rolls searched ... so finding one in your first box of 50 rolls is good news.

Your 1942-S war silver ... while well worn to AG3/G4 ... is a great find ... I have found only 2 in my entire searching ... my average is one every 134,200 coins ... that's one every 3,355 rolls ... so you did very well on that find.

Hoping you stick with it ... nickel roll searching is great fun and a great way to enjoy the hobby with a real possibility of completing an entire circulation strike set from circulation rolls.

Your first box makes me want to search the box I have in my room! But sadly I have $5 worth of pennies left and its almost bed time. Plus I need to figure out whats worth keeping on my box of nickels before I start searching.
