supposedly...
Was going to share this with you guys when it arrived, but since it has been unusually quiet in the ancients forum today (no new posts in the last 13 hours ), I'd thought I'd break the silence and post my newest internet pickup, my first Nero!

Nero (54-68 AD) AE as

Obv: IMP NERO CAESAR AVG P MAX TR POT P P, bare-headed left, with globe at point of bust

Rev: Victoria flying left, holding shield with SPQR inscribed, S-C across field
RIC 546, Lugdunum mint, 28 mm

"A poor Roman plays the Goth, a rich Goth the Roman." - Theodoric, King of the Ostrogoths

Attributed coins in my collection so far - Roman: 179, Byzantine: 9, Post-Roman Germanic: 8

Nice details! Nero may be one of the easiest portraits to ID on a Roman coin.

Perhaps not even his mom, since Nero killed her.
