I can probably get 10 silver Morgan dollars for melt and some can be pretty nice, or should I get a Canadian 1/4oz maple leaf? which will be a better investment? And gold is down so I thought this is the right time to buy. Thanks

There's quite a price difference here. 10 Morgans at melt would be roughly $245-$250. 1/4 oz of gold would be $415 before any premium. I don't think you can wrong with either, and it just depends how much you are willing to pay. I like both personally. :P

I would say if you already have a decent amount of silver handy, to go for the gold. Never hurts to be diversified. Otherwise go for the Morgans.

If you can get Morgan dollars for melt I would do that. That is difficult to come by. Usually Morgans carry a $2-$3 premium.

I would personally go for the Morgans. IMO, there is more potential to make money with silver.

If you can really get Morgans for spot its a no brainer, go with the silver.

I guess im going morgans. He might only have 10 left so we will see. If I have money left over, he has 1 gram bars of gold. And also im trading in a coin for a silver bar. Tomorrow is going to be a good day.

Stay away from a 1 gram. The premium is to high and it is just tiny, no need to own IMHO.

If you haven't noticed by now, I don't proofread veery well and I apollogize profusely. (;>D

Nothing beats a nice high quality Morgans IMO. And hands down I would take ten nice Morgans today, even though I would have took the gold a year ago. Graded pref, if not o.k. as well. Coins well over a hundred years old still in nice shape, a special thing as most if not all were circulated an used, via clanked around in pockets, etc....
I feel people will always pay a solid premium for a nice high grade Morgan with either a blast white appearance great color or a real key date or error or something along those lines.....
RIP BigFredd....

I would say go for the Morgan dollars, unless they are really worn. The Maple Leafs are nice coins and it's pretty cool to have a 9999 pure coin, but getting Morgans at spot price isn't common these days. Also, there is strong belief there will be a higher upside on silver than gold. I would definitely get the Morgans.

we'll see what he has tomorrow. Ill make a new thread about what I got. And I believe he has some nice Peace dollars too. And also he has all sorts of gold coins that are probably from the $100-$1800 dollar range. So ill see what he has.

The nice thing about the Morgans is that it is possible to sell a few of them if you need some cash. With the 1/4 oz. gold coin, you have to sell it all to get cash from it. Might never be a problem but if it was, the Morgans would allow you to sell some and keep the rest. I like silver a lot and have a good amount of it. Because I have no gold at all, the gold would be pretty tempting.
