I am in need of a mold to pour melted gold into.
Any ideas on where to obtain one?
Thanks

Not specifically but a steel mold should work for this. Iron has a higher melting point than gold by about 750F, so if the gold were heated to around 2000F to melt it, the iron mold should be able to handle that.

Do you need a specific shape? If not, then a bullet mold will work well for either a mini-ball or round ball shape and several different weights are available.

A steel or iron mold for lead fishing weights would also likely work.

I once saw a small but heavy steel tray that had bar shapes stamped into it for casting lead bricks of about 1" x 2" x 4". Something like that should work too but I don't know where you would get one of these.

It is not for me it is for a friend of mine who "owns" a mine in Central America.

He is pulling a couple of oz a week in range from 15 to 23 karat.

I am trying to get him to join the forum to get involved in some of the discussions here

@rggoodie Many people here (including me) would be interested in obtaining any unmelted, gold nuggets that he comes across.

That would be great, if he weren't too busy digging like mad and then sleeping off the resulting exhaustion.
