Hi all, My first post went to Theodora, Bonehead Pontius Pilate asked "What is Truth" XRISTUS IHSUS Says " You Shall know the Truth and the Truth Shall make you Free"

 to the community The pictures are a bit small, but from what I can tell your coin is a Denarius RIC VII 331. Very nice looking coin.

Thank you, Echizento The coin has a Bronze color under the patina, so you think its a Denarius? I'm going to try a larger photo.. ok better, needs work

I don't think it is a Denarius, but the reverse legend matches Julia Mamaea RIC 331 as echizento found. I'm on my way to a meeting here shortly and don't have much time to spend looking, but I'm sure someone will have the answer soon.

Without size and weight it is hard to say if it is a toned denarius or a bronze imitation usually called 'Limes' denarii. If the coin is bronze color in the bottom of a scratch through the patina, it is probably unofficial. Denarii of this period should still look silver, gray or black but not copper colored.

Dougsmit, I posted this on your thread, trying to get it moved or deleted, the coin is 3.75g and 20mm.

Even if it turns out to be a Limes they are still old and some people collect them.
I have one, but it's a little hard to find out much about them.

Hi Doucet, It's bronze, I went to the website you had, looks like it could be a limes coin, I got a bulk of these from some one who got them from the guy who unearth them, he's had them for 20 to 30 yrs, before I them. there where 300 coin's in all, I got about 200 of them, Thanks again..
