Hi Gang,

Here is my next coin, Nerva 96 to 98 AD.
11.35g x 27mm
AE AS 97 Ad IMP NERVA CAES AVG PM TRP COS 11 PP
Lavreate head right.
FORTVNA AVGVST S-C
Fortuna standing left holding rudder & cornucopiae
I think that it would be ric 60

This coin had a very thick black crust, after following other threads, I cleaned this coin for a month, olive oil and tooth brush, who every dug this coin must of hit it with shovel , most of the coin in this lot have this black crust.

I don't know much about Nerva, but the coin has nice detail.
Did a nice job on cleaning it, except for the shovel it it looks pretty good.

There is lots of details and it's got a nice finders mark. Nice looking coin.

I can't make out the end of the obverse legend. It looks to me like it could read COS III rather than COS II. If that is the case, that would make it RIC 83. You have the coin in hand, so are a better judge of the legend.

I have found that most Nerva coins are hard to come by at a price that won't break the bank. I know they are not listed as rare or hard to find, but the price for his coins seem high. So, I think you have a nice coin despite the minor cosmetic problems.

nice looking coin ... you must have a lot of patience, for the details are very sharp/good ...

... oh, and it's far more glamorous if you tell people that a soldier's sword must have grazed the coin, rather than a shovel ...
