Firstly sorry for the pics but they were taken several cameras ago and before I learnt how to realy take coin photos. The coin actually looks nicer in hand with full mint luster. The 2x2 has MS64 on it though not my hand writing.
It would appear I paid $30 USD for it in 2008

Would our Aussie contingent care to assign a grade and current value in todays market.
Or anyone for that matter.

Uncirculated , a couple of scratches on the obverse, 3 clear steps on the reverse,if I were buying it i'd want to get it for $75 to $85 but I'm a bargain hunter,if you had it professionally graded you would get more for it ( a couple hundred maybe )

Would come back as MS63 with PCGS, I've seen MS63 comm florins go anywhere from $50 to $130 on eBay, probably depends on the luck of the auction however the steps are nicer than most MS63 examples. It may just be the photography but the reverse almost looks cleaned.

The steps are very clear! In the reverse 'window' showing the parliament house building there seems to be some lines which may even be die polishing rather than scratches?

I think MS-62 or 63 would be more realistic than 64. Value I think between $80 and $100. I would buy it for $30 in a heartbeat! Good buy.

enworb is in the money for the correct grade for this one.
The steps in the front of the Parliament House give the clue as to how fresh the die that struck it was. This is a very good strike.

I have had the oportunity to examine proof and gem uncirculated examples alongside each other, and the business strike had more detail around the steps!

The reverse was George Kruger Gray's (KG) first design that went into circulation. He went on to design a great many of the reverses for Great Britain and British Commomwealth coinge. The designer's initials are in the scrolls below the date on the reverse.

I have five examples of this coin, just because I like the design, and none are as good as this one!

These are my all time favorite design Australian coin, I have a few of these
This would be MS 65 if it weren't for the many bag marks on both the obverse and the reverse.
Fantastic strike on the reverse and an excellent example of this coin.
UNC-MS63
I would pay at least $75 for one like this so for $30 you did exceptionally well with this acquisition

There's friction on the cheek, the reverse is dulled, probably cleaned (or possibly just to do with the photo), it's a borderline AU58-MS62.

I put the dullness on the reverse down to the photo.

Nohope587 maybe you could post another picture or confirm your original one is accurate?

Would come back from PCGS as MS62 or maybe MS63, despite the steps being much better than average. Early die strike. Maybe $90 on eBay.
...collecting banknotes and coins; I'll always have money and something nice to look at...
