Hey guys and gals. You may have remembered a thread I wrote about my wife saying I can spend a percentage of the money I spend on cigarettes to buy silver, no questions asked, if I quit. For those not familiar, it was called so my wife is finally on board or gets silver, or something like that.
Anyways, I thought I may start this thread to keep you posted on how I do each week and post what silver I may have or am going to add to the stack. Getting a camera soon so I will post pics if I can figure it all out.
Today was day 1 week 1. Good start today! Hate my life though. Will update in 7 days! Cheers all!

Sam I quit back in 82. My focus was to stop buying cigarettes. If you don't buy them your friends will get tired of you bumming them and they will help you stop. Hope your stack reaches the roof! Keep up the good work.

A typical amount that a smoker spends each year is around $4,000. Over a 20 year period, with that (fiat) money, you could buy something like 2,800 ASE's!

Immediate benefit: you will find yourself hugging your daughter spontaneously without wondering is you smell like smoke. I remember that anytime a I am tempted to cheat (plus my son is 12 and would never let me live it down at this point).
Keep it up, you can do it!

Samsnate, I will be watching for further developments in your quest of building you stack. Bravo for leaving those cigarettes behind, and putting that money to good use.

Cool motivational idea and your wife is really cool for being flexible and open enough to pitch the compromise.

Sam - I've been watching this post. I started late in my mid-20's and ended in my early 30's. I'm 35 now and I haven't had a cigarette in 4 years now. What I do have are plenty of ASE's to show for quitting. Chantix helped me out and I only used that medicine for 30 out of 90 days required. I was a smoker for 9 years and did NOT want to be in the "double digit years" of smoking. Good luck and stay strong.

I like the way you think. I might have to steal your idea. It would definitely motivate me to quit myself and turn my cigarettes into something positive.
