Brett2444 Of course this is special because it belonged to your grandmother It looks like it has been polished and that ruins any numismatic value that this coin would have had, But it was your Nan's so its value to you would be priceless

I would grade your coin as aVF, hard to see from the photos but I think it is an overdate. Even cleaned it would be worth $12-17. I note that it looks like someone has taken a wire brush to it at some point.

I would be grading this one F-gF.
Hare to tell if its an overdate but there is does look like there is a little spike from the end of the top stroke so it might be.
You can tell its been polished because of the colour. For a coin in this grade and of hat age you wold expect it to be somewhere from milk chocolate brown to dark chocolate brown. Yours is veryb coppery looking which is a give away its been cleaned.
Us coin collectors dont like our coins cleaned. Even if it is an over date I wouldn't think it would get anymore than $10 on eBay.
My advice would be to keep it because its your Nanna's and is special. Is this the year she was born?

I think I may have been a little harsh on the grading originally. Im thinking gF-aVF after a second look.
If it is an overdate the it was probably worth $30-40
If it is just a normal 1933 penny it was probably worth $2 and might be worth 50c now.
Can you take a close up picture of the date for us so we can determine if its an overdate or not?
Coin grading rather deceptively starts at G (good) and progresses in order of VG (very good) - F (fine) - VF (Very Fine) - EF extremely fine - aUNC (about Uncirculated) - UNC - Uncirculated
There are intermediate grades between each to describe coins which are a bit better or dont quite reach a certain grade.
Prices usually increase exponentially as grade increases.
My grandmother was born in 1934. When I find a coin I like Dated that year and 1931 (my grandfathers birth year) theyre always that little bit more special.

I don't think it is an over date from the scan the top curve of the last 3 is too high to be an over date. I may be wrong (the pic is far too fuzzy to be exact with this) but I doubt it
