I am curious. Do many of you take pics of coins you are interested in at coin shops and shows. I sometimes take pics of coins that I am interested in (my I-phone works pretty well). Note,I ask permission first. I have found this helpful to judge a coins condition and it seems to make my purchases more objective. It also helps to have record of the ones that got away or I cannot afford (yet:).

Hello,

I personally have not shot any photos of coins outside of my office but could envision a rather useful application for coin photography outside of one's office confines.

It would be great if an 'effective' software application exists for Android phones (having built-in cameras) that could search a database of US and international coin photos. Then once the corresponding photo is identified the user could easily click on error, variety and current pricing information.

I cannot remember how many times I have attended an auction or show when this type of identification process would be invaluable for gaining a leg up on other less resourceful individuals etc.
