Interesting Find From Circulation

Today's strange find:

2002 British Five-Pence in my change from the grocery store (in place of a Dime).

Technically, I was short-changed three U.S. Cents as per today's exchange rate...

The strange exception to that rule is Canadian coins. Canada coins were virtually never seen here in Denver (for pretty much all of my life) until the Canadian Dollar reached parity with the U.S. Dollar, then all of a sudden the Canadian coins are all over the place here!
Even their old stuff like a 1958 Cent and 1961 Nickel I've found in this past year....

Getting a British coin in your change in Denver, well the odds of that happening are low enough to where it's a great find even if I 'lost' 3¢
( and like you said, I bet I could sell it for 10¢ easy, but I won't! )....

2007 Russian 5 Kopek found in a roll of Canadian pennies.

I got a 1941 S Jefferson vf-ef and a 1948 D wheatie from the register today.

Also bought a 1950 D Jefferson AU+ for $3!

Congrats DNA, 1938 S was the last one I needed for my 38-61 folder. Just bought one today, about the same condition as yours, maybe less, for $2.75

In 1993, I saw a 1989 American Silver Eagle sitting in a 7-11 drawer.

I bought it from the cashier for $1, and he was glad to get rid of it! He thanked me for buying it from him!

It's scratched, edge-dinged and cleaned, but it's my lucky A.S.E. (that I carry in my pocket in a flip) because I got it for $1!

At lunch today I received a 1956 Jefferson nickel. Nothing special; with 35,216,000 minted it ranks as the 28th lowest. However, it is the oldest nickel I have seen in a while and it is not another 1964!

Just about every roll of circulated Nickels I've opened in the last six months has had at least one 1964-D in it. Lots and lots of '64-P's in the rolls, too.....

As far as my roll-hunting goes, the five years before and after are practically key dates compared to the '64's! The '64's about as common in the rolls as 1997-2002 Nickels.
