Nice BU 2009 Native American dollar in my Light Rail change today.
What's special about it: it's a "P"!

It must have been spent from a Direct Ship roll.

The armored car service that fills the Light Rail ticket dispensers
has been putting BU 2009 Native American dollars in the coin mix,
but they're all D's (of course). I did get six of those today as well.

Yes, the Native American dollar is made as a business strike
(for circulation) at both the Philadelphia and Denver Mints.

What made that a 'find' is that brand new Philadelphia Mint coins
of any type are virtually impossible to find in Denver circulation!

Since the armored car service that fills the Light Rail ticket
dispensers gets only Denver Mint coins when they get BU Dollars,
that's why I think this was spent from a Direct Ship Roll.

When you get a Direct Ship Roll, you can't specify the mintmark on
the coins you'll receive. Since all are shipped from the Mint's
contractor in Indiana, this means that someone in Philadelphia could
get Denver Mint coins, and vice versa.

Today apparently was give me really cool money day.

First I got a dollar bill with the serial number E 80999908 B. Almost a true palindrome.

Then I guess that wasn't good enough so someone gave me a 1953 D Roosevelt dime.

To top off the day someone else felt the need to spend a 1936 Buffalo nickle at my work.

Kind of makes me feel like dancing, but since I can't I will have this banana do it for me.

Was at the bank unloading some coins I had looked through when the teller informed me about a recent load of coins an old lady had dropped off. I bought them all at face and even received a silver quarter in change from the teller. He said someone turned in the quarter because it wouldn't go through the coin sorter. When I later checked the coins they were indeed as labeled on the rolls

On 9/11 I got 6 rolls of the Samoa Island quarter at a bank. They had boxes of them. Who would be paying $20 a roll? They also had a ton of Polk dollar coins. I only get P mints here. Be willing to trade for D mint coins straight up!

"He said someone turned in the quarter because it wouldn't go through the coin sorter." Some time ago I got a silver dime from a woman who couldn't use it to buy a coke form a vending machine.
Rest in Peace
