Numi, O-G, and GFR,
Disturbing to hear of banks that one has an account with not willing to do business...I can see a bank that you don't have an account with not wanting to accept your coins, but one that is earning interest off of your $$$ ? Avoid that bank! Hopefully you all have many more to choose from!
100 roll update in about 30 minutes.

FOOD ON THE GRILL!?!? Wow, sometimes I sit and work on this coin stuff too long and forget how hungry I am!! Enjoy, Eyeluv, and I'm glad this post has generated so much other interest! Hope all of you have valuable and interesting finds, but above all have a great time!!
Remember, ALWAYS TELL US ABOUT WHAT YOU FIND!!
Here are the results of another 100 rolls:
100 rolls 38 pre-1959 0 silver nickels (in a bit of a silver drought right now!!)
I think I found a 55d/s; later I'm going to post a photo of it on the error forum and see what the experts think!
GRAND TOTALS TO DATE: 2400 rolls 1010 pre-1959 (1000+; I guess that's a milestone!) (5 most common: 1940(89),1958d(82),1957d(79),1941(78),1954d(54)) 46 silver nickels (3 most common: 1943P(11),1943S(11),1944P(10) 6 Buffalo Nickels (dateless,1920,(2)1927,1928,1929s) 1 Proof (1993s) 3 Bermuda 5 cents (1970,1987,1996) 3 Bahamas 5 cents (1998,(2)2000) 1 Belgium 1 Franc (1975)
NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE SET:
38d,39d,43D,44D,44S,50,50d
Big news (at least for me!) I can now post photos, as I got a new camera with Macro capabilty, and for magnification I bought one of those "Eyeclops" things, and it takes pretty good close up photos. I just started a thread on the photo forum to get some advice that will hopefully eliminate some problems that I am having, and once I can post I will put up a few pictures of my finds during this survey.

Good finds, XoG! I'm glad that I looked at your post because I found an error in my last update from reading yours. I also need a 51s to finish my set, and I do have a 50. So, we almost need the same ones! I need the 44S, which you have, and you need the 38s, which I have. Continued good luck with yours!!

This is a milestone in this project. 2500 rolls! 10% of the way there!
After a couple of 100-roll results that were not-so-good, this 100 made up for them! Not as good as the person on another thread here that found 40 Buffalos in a box, but I found more than one in a box for the first time. Have to admit, though, I'd love to get a box like that! Anyway, here goes...
100 rolls 43 pre-1959 3 silver nickels ((2)1942P,1943S) 2 Buffalo Nickels (1929,1938d) The 38d has a full horn showing and is at least VF!
GRAND TOTALS TO DATE: 2500 rolls 1053 pre 1959 (5 most common: 1940(90),1958d(88),1957d(85),1941(81),1946 and 1954d(55)) 49 silver nickels (3 most common: 1943S(12),1943P(11),1944P10) 8 Buffalo Nickels (dateless,1920,(2)1927,1928,1929,1929s,1938d) 1 Proof (1993s) 3 Bermuda 5 cents (1970,1987,1996) 3 Bahamas 5 cents (1998,(2)2000) 1 Belgium 1 Franc (1975)
DATES NEEDED TO COMPLETE SET:
38d,39d,43D,44D,44S,50d,51s
Keep up the great finds!

I think I am going to start searching rolls of nickels, I got $1000 in cash already to go to the bank and be exchanged for nickels, though half dollar rolls may be very promising.

Photos are great! Congrats on that buffalo...man, that is nice. One of my Grand-daughters and I went through a box on nickels today but it was a terrible box, only 5 keepers and only 1 of them was from before 1950....but we had fun spending time together

Great photos CND. I'm looking forward to finding my first buffalo. Got any pointers to offer that might help me to get some pics posted? I finally got through my box of monotany...I mean...box of '07P nickels . Really though, it was kind of an enlightening experience. 1: I got the FULL opportunity to see what newly minted nickels are supposed to look like. And just to confirm-Yes they where ALL the same coin-'07P(all 2,000 of them). No blank or clipped planchets or other major stuff. 2: I learned alot about bag marks as well as just how nice a coin looks without them. I was fascinated by the vast variences that occur in brand new coins! Some looked pretty rough. Suprisingly some even appeared dirty. Others where just stunning, even under a loupe! Of course I kept a good number of those. If you're looking for full steps, this is the way to go. 3: I even happened to find a good number of errors! Granted, they where all the SAME error. I kept finding coins that had some or all of the letters missing in the word "TRUST". Now, there where only a very few examples wherein the letters where missing comlpetely. Most are what I started calling 'fading TRUST' errors. For example some had 'T T' with the middle letters only faded to one degree or another. A couple others that I liked actually read 'IN GOD WE RUST'(ranging from the 'T' missing or just faded). Thought that was a little humorous. In another real good example the WE and TRUST are nearly completely gone. Under good lighting you can barely make out some faint vestiges of the letters. Some of the ones that stand out the best are the ones that have the surrounding letters very well struck. Makes the faded letters appear even more absent. Are these anything to get excited about? I don't know if you would consider them to be major or minor errors or even errors at all. I'm showing just how little I actually know about errors here . At the least, I thought they where pretty cool. I kept 40+ of the best examples. I also hit up a Walgreens for 4 rolls each of nickels and cents on Sat night. I just couldn't go all weekend without looking at some older stuff . Oldest I found in the nicks was a '59D. The cents did at least produce one wheat for me- a 53D. Also one '99 canadian cent. So, not a bad weekend nickel searchng after all. Thanks to all of you who made some suggestions as to my options on this full box of '07p. I was fully prepped to take 'em right back to the bank on Mon. But now I feel I'm a little more 'coin wiserer' for going through them instead. In all, I held back three, randomly selected, unsearched rolls. One full roll of the finest specimens. And one full roll of errors. Can't wait to see what tommorrows box will bring !

Sully, Welcome to the Forum! And, a great start CRH'ing (coin roll hunting)! 2500 rolls I haven't found one of those yet.
Numi, searching new rolls is a crapshoot. You can find no errors at all, find something minor, or get rolls full of cuds and doubled dies. Most of what you are looking at came from just a small handful of dies, so you just have to hope that something major went wrong at the time your coins hit the hopper!
O-G, Even though my son is only 4 he is starting to show a little bit of an interest in what I am doing (he saw a Buffalo Nickel and commented on the "cow"!). Having fun is the most important thing, and it's great to see young ones taking an interest. Especially with all of the distractions they have today.
Have 50 more rolls to go, and then the next update will post!

Hey Numi,
Congrats on the errors! That's not my error of expertise so to speak, but i'd try and put some pictures up in the Error forum and see what they have to say about them. Probably just common die wear, but cool die wear none-the-less. "IN GOD WE RUST" is just hilarious hah Throw one up on eBay too just to get a rough range for the price.
I'm headed back to NY in a little bit and plan on getting two or three boxes for tonight. I've been in PA since Friday and have been experiencing coin withdrawal! This addiction just my be worse than my nicatine addiction hehe
Until next time, --Gary

cnd, when you get alot of dateless buffalos buy some nic a date so you can see what dates they are, unless you have a key or a expensive variety it wont add much value, but at least youd be able to see what dates you have
