I picked up 5 more rolls I really think a MS-65 in the painted coins is going to be very hard to find. I have searched 9 rolls and found 91 painted coins one MS-65 maybe two, five MS-64's and the rest MS-60-63. The plain coins I have found eight that I think will make MS-65 and one that might make MS-66 or MS-67 lots of MS-64's. I put away two rolls of the plain hand picked all MS-64+ in them and turned the rest back into circulation.
Happy hunting.

Hi are these colourized coins identical to the coins contained in collector cards that Petro Canada is pushing?
Thanks for the clarification.

Sadly, yes, I would've thought they should put the red strip like the others. Who knows, maybe the PC ones are the better quality ones?

was talking to a friend today who picked up 4 rolls and only got 2 colorized coins. I guess that goes to show that either there were more colorized coins in the " first shipment " or that the they were definitely randomly place in rolls.

Interesting...now I guess I'm going to have to see if my colorized ones have a "regular 2" or a "countersunked 2"...

I've gone through all colorized ones I have on hand (34 coins), and I can report that all of mine are the countersunk type. Checking all of the uncolorized ones (38 of them), I note that all of them are the "regular 2" type. I have no colorized ones with the "regular 2", so I'm guessing that the mint produced two different supplies -- some meant to be colorized (countersunk) and some that were meant to stay uncolorized (regular 2). There must have been a mix-up, resulting in some regular 2's being colorized, and at this point, it would appear that these are the ones to watch out for.

Further research may be needed, and I'll have to see if I can pick up a couple more rolls today.

Makes me wonder if there are actually more or less than the official count of 3 million colorized.

The inverse may also be true -- there may be regular ones with a countersunk 2, but I haven't found any yet.

Hi WpgLwr

Wou tell : There must have been a mix-up, resulting in some regular 2's being colorized, and at this point, it would appear that these are the ones to watch out for.

Excuse my english.

Look at the régular with no colors, is shine at this place and he have not be knurled. Is not the same finish on surface and the same die.

I was at Winnipeg's monthly coin sale/bourse on Sunday morning and mentioned this to the dealers there. None of them were aware about the two different types of 2's for starters, and were totally unaware of the existence of two types of colorized quarters. All six dealers immediately searched their stock, but found nothing, so they must be pretty rare.

Hi

Papeldog ask : How many painted rare one's to normal are you finding?

On 549 colorized coins =

Conter sunk 2 = 512

Same as régular = 37 or 7.2%

7.2% of 3,000,000 = 216,000 possible
