With a limit of one, now the flippers will go away and the market will go back to normality... And with all the stuff the RCM sell, lots of people will go away too, it's good news IMO....

Quote: With a limit of one, now the flippers will go away and the market will go back to normality... Flippers go away and market will go back to normal? Sure.. I am sure the other dealer will sell everything at issue price because flippers are gone. Quote:And with all the stuff the RCM sell, lots of people will go away too, it's good news IMO.... If people goes away, it is bad. Why would the mint willing to mint stuffs if there's not enough interest? They may reduce the number of coins produce but I am sure they will upped their price to make up for the lost of revenue. No one win if people not interested.

Truth be told it was not the public that was complaining about allocations, it was dealers. I was at a recent show and all they could talk about was how flippers were making all the money and their allocation of profitable coins had been cut. So now the dealers will be making the big bucks, because as we know there is nothing to stop them from selling at what ever the market will bear. There will be less coins sold on the Mint web site which generate more sell outs thus increasing demand.

Then become a RCM Authorized dealer... and get the best of both worlds...

I'm not a dealer or a flipper... But for a dealer who make business with the RCM since 20-30 years for example, it's normal as a dealer to be frustrated to see all the people doing money wihtoug having to manage an inventory and all the expenses to run a business... And again, the RCM needs the dealer to distribute their products... It's normal when you run a business to satisfied your Customer (dealer for the RCM)... Also, for everybody in Canada who do not have access to a dealer or a PO, it's frustrating to be not able to get the coins you like because frlippers grap everything to make a profit on ebay... On my side I have the chance to be a MC, but if I was not, I'm sure I'll get away from this hobby with what I see since 2 years...

Dooby Rak, I agree with most of your post except for the last sentence, "there will be less coins sold on the Mint web site which generate more sell outs thus increasing demand". I think it is the reverse, there will be more coins coins available on the web site since people are allowed to only buy one coin. More coins will mean it take much longer to sell out, thus decreasing demand for them. A flipper will look at the the coin and say 'hmm', that coin is not selling out, why should I buy it.

In recent years, the allocations eaten up by flippers is tiny compared to the numbers that have gone to Canada Post. If dealers don't recognize that the emergence of a huge crown corp with 6600 outlets spread across every city, town and village in the country, then they have failed to see the 800lb gorilla in the room.
Flippers will only go away when the buyers go away. If the mint limits purchases, then they will simply tap other resources (i.e. CP and other dealers).
I will concede that the flippers and more so, the mint shipping delays, have helped create unsupported market demand that 95% of the time results in a temporary wave of high prices followed by a dramatic price drop. Most coins older than 6 months, can be had for issue or less yet at some point in the cycle, they were selling at a premium. Of course there are exceptions but those coins are not the norm.
No matter what, there is no way the current coin collecting community can support 15-20 new coins every month. That mint strategy imo, is unsustainable unless a whole lot of new collectors enter the hobby.

I don't really like the idea of one per household, I like being able to buy 2 of the 20 for 20's. I think the amount per household should be based somehow on the mintage. I have no intent to flip any I just like being able to have one out of the cardboard, and one in the cardboard with the queen showing and one as they arrive. I'm a MC member so I get free shipping from the mint, if I want 2 more I have to buy from a dealer probably at the same price but have to pay shipping seems a bit frustrating for me.
