Hey, I just picked up a roll of the new Olympic coins at the RBC (bank) and found 7 colorized quarters. A friend had the same luck at the same branch. the teller said that she was finding them in rolls she was breaking open as well.
Anyone else?
Does anyone know, is this some sort of mistake or is it intentional?

Nice little bonus, since these enamelled quarters are NIFC, and usually sell for somewhere around $20...

Picked up two rolls, just for the heck of it. Broke open one to find 11 colorized quarters. Decided to check the RCM website to see what was going on, where they are selling a special edition Uncirculated set which contains the regular coinage, but instead of the caribou quarter, it includes the three colorized quarters, and instead of the regular loonie, there's a special Inukshook loonie. The total price is $27.95. The ad copy says: Get the Ultimate Olympic Winter Games Souvenir As an Official Supporter of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Royal Canadian Mint has produced limited mintage collector coins and sets. To create the most extensive Winter Games Coin Program possible, the Mint asked Canadians to share their favourite Olympic Winter Moments. More than 100 Top Olympic Winter Moments were whittled down to 10 by a jury. From there, Canadians voted on their top three. This set celebrates these favourite three Canadian Moments.
Canada's traditional* uncirculated coin sets have long been a popular starting point for new collections - but this special edition set is expected to be especially popular since it also includes the Vancouver 2010 Lucky Loonie PLUS three 25-cent Canadian Winter Olympic Moments coloured coins.
Whether acquired in this set or in circulation, it's important to know coloured Moments coins are scarce.
Miss out on this ultimate Olympic Winter Games souvenir and the only way to own all three coloured coins becomes challenging. That's right - for each of the three Moments coins, 22 million coins will enter circulation. BUT of those 22 million coins, only 3 million will be in colour - and each one will only be found, by chance, in random rolls distributed throughout this great nation.(emphasis added)
Don't be disappointed! Get your 2010 Special Edition Uncirculated Set and be guaranteed to own all 3 coloured Moments coins!Sooooo...I guess they are supposed to be in rolls, but there will only be 3 million of each design overall -- which is definitely a low mintage rate, in any event. Methinks this matter needs more discussion before I open the second roll...

Roll 2 contained 7 colorized quarters.
That's an average of 9 per roll, so far. I think I'm going to grab some more...

I picked up 4 rolls today at a RBC in Surrey and ended up with 44 painted coins out of the 4 rolls but not a MS-65 out of any of them. I got 6 coins with no paint out of the 4 rolls that I think will make MS-65 or better. I wounder if the painted one's are handled more than once before they are rolled up or if I just got a poor quality bunch in these rolls?

Jim, I also cracked a couple rolls and found that the colorized coins had appreciably more marks than the non-colored ones. I ended up with an even dozen of them, but none of them are better than a 62-63.

I just had to get a couple more rolls today.
By the way Papeldog and 1Cent you are so right, the normal coins are extremely high quality I can't see a bag mark or scratch or anything on some of them. The colored ones on the other hand have seen a lot more handling lots of scuffs on the cheek etc. Still, I'm happy to get any that come my way.

It seems these also come in the petro cards, but looks to be the same, or is it? Also why start with the gold one, wouldnt bronze, silver, then gold be more logical?
