Greetings...I cant find any resources on the internet about this set of sterling silver medals...e.g.

Their weight
How many were in the set
Their original package presentation
Their value

any info, thoughts, leads?

Thanks,
Jim

I found a web reference to a set of 36 medals minted by Longines Symphonette in either sterling silver or bronze called "Well's Fargo Heritage of the Golden West". These are similar to Franklin or Danbury mint products. Most were sold by subscription & came with a wood presentation case. Most of these sell based on melt value, although I've heard that some carry a premium if you can find a collector.

I have a few medals from a different series minted by the Longines Symphonette mint. Mine are all marked on the edge with the mint name, sterling silver & a serial number.

I guess it would be helpful to mention I googled "Heritage of the Golden West" longines symphonette & got 2 links to ads for the set. Rereading the ads, the medals were offered in sterling for $10 each, & $15 for 24k gold over sterling.

thank you very much, trd...very helpful...I have two receipts from the 70s for the $10 orders and I now recall that I found the presentation box a year or so ago and it was in terrible condition (falling apart), so I tossed it. thanks again.

Glad I could help. I hit a lot of estate sales & antique malls looking for silver & run across similar medals every so often.
