So, I've been coin collecting for years but only recently really LOOKING at them, as in for errors. Recently came across this one-- and I have to admit I'm stumped. The '0' looks flattened...it's not scraped at all, looks like a possible error but I can't seem to find it anywhere... I even broke down & bought the cherrypicker's guide! Anyway have a look tell me what you think.
Looks like it could be PMD like somone hit it with a chisel to try and knock off the date... just a thought Im sure somone who knows more will chime in soon...

That would appear to me to be post mint damage. I would endorse the suggestion that it may be a coin counting machine impact that caused the "0" to be flattened on the one side.
I was afraid of that. I was hoping though, simply because I would have expected to see some scrape marks or some evidence of metal being moved and there isn't any. And because it is flat, doesn't follow the edge of the coin...
Reminds me of a fishing lure I bought once... it was called "Ken's Great Hope"-- underneath was the slogan "Because without hope you have nothing."
