In all my lunch break hunts for boxes of cents and halves, I've only found Ikes twice. Last week, a bank had ten, so I took them...
Fantastic finds!

I went to one of my local bank branches today to deposit a check. A staff member came to the lobby and said, "Mr. Ynnad, Johnny has got some dollar coins today if you want them." She knows I like cool money. I got these 140 Eisenhower dollars:

2 1971
15 1971-D
5 1972
21 1972-D
1 1974
15 1974-D
2 1976 type I
2 1976-D type I
9 1976 type II
31 1976-D type II
8 1977
13 1977-D
3 1978
13 1978-D

With three exceptions, they were only very lightly circulated at most. One looked like it might have been someone's pocket piece for just a little while. Another looked like it lived in a casino for a while. And another might have spent some time in a parking lot.

On Tuesday I tried ordering Ikes from my favorite teller. Unfortunately, I discovered she is out for maternity leave until late Feb. The person I spoke to claimed he knew how to order them, but I doubt he will be successful. I guess I will find out next week...

I've thought about seeing if my banks have Ike dollars. I'd ask them "Hey, do you have any of the big dollar coins?"
I would probably keep the nicest of each year and mint and sell the rest to see if I can make a profit.

Good afternoon fellow hunters!

I am trying to track down "Ikes" to bring along into my journey of spreading a trail of $2s across life, and there's a lot of good information on here.

I have a good relationship with my head teller and they are more than willing to work with me on getting an order in, but we don't know exactly how yet. Next week they are going to call their 'vendor' (Brinks) to find out more information but I wanted to ask jbuck, berto, or anyone else who might know more about the process to get things started.

In the meantime, here is a picture of my first Ike I was able to snag in the tray this week!

Let's see the reverse, there are 3 varieties for 1972 dated Ikes.

That is only for the 1972-P. This is a 1972-D.
