Found this oddity in a mixed bag of world coins. I'm guessing it's a Spanish 50 cent coin with an engraving on one side? Usually I'm against defacing coins, but it is pretty.

Given that there are two of them that are more or less identical, I would assume it to be a tourist piece, rather than a true "love token". I'm not entirely certain, as the artwork is somewhat stylized, but it may be a locally crafted souvenir piece from Morro castle on Puerto Rico.

Morro Castle Havana. It has the lighthouse, P.R. does not.

I'd forgotten that. My money is still on Havana though, the geometry and the shape are more consistent with the coin images.
