Go to the US Mint and there are remind me on all the 2025 proof sets. What I understand there is a quality issue with the sets. When I first received my 3 regular proof sets all the Lincoln cents had little red dots on them. I finally opened a set and yes there were issues with the Lincoln Cent. I then ordered three more sets and got two sets which had good Lincoln cents in the holder. I wonder if this is the problem now why there are halting the sets? Edited by SaturnD51 08/23/2025 8:04 pm

There is speculation in the 2025 Silver Mint Proof Set thread that there have been quality/tarnishing issues with the sets this year causing the Mint to withdraw them from their web site and stores.

Ouch I am glad I already got mind. Now I sent the silver ones for grading to preserve them.

I guess we should be happy they are taking quality control seriously now.

Thanks, Celtic. The silver set is in my subsciption, yet it failed to be placed for some reason. The mint representative couldn't give me a reason why or it's unavailable status but put me on the notification list. Been a few weeks now.

I bought a 2025 Proof Set from the Mint (via subscription) for the first time since 2012. Over the course of two months, I had to return the set three times for QC issues. The fourth set I received was good enough to keep, although even that one has carbon flecks on the cent. The whole situation was ridiculous, but now I'm beginning to wonder if my experience was not an outlier. I wonder if they will eventually put up more sets for sale after examining the issue or call it done for the year.

Good luck finding any under $300. Personally, I think the U.S. Mint is weighing a price adjustment with silver the way it's going. There's still three months left for continued production.

I was considering getting the 2024 and 2025 silver proof sets but with the price being $150 and god knows how high it will be in a few months with silver's recent rise, I am waiting for the secondary market. I got the unc sets and they were fine.
PS. As a lesson in waiting, I paid this weekend $37 for the Mark twain Silver Proof Commemorative silver coins. He said he was selling them a little over melt becauyse he had too many in his inventory. The original price was about $50 in 2016. I figure that from my observations of all the coins people are selling to dealers, in about 2 years silver and gold will cool down and drop in prices (unless we have some sort of crisis that rocks even more our present tenuous hold on economic stability) and dealers are goind to discount further their items due to oversupply. So all of these factors will in a few years drop the price of 2024 and 2025 silver proof and proof sets. probably will have to wait about 5 years but I am tired of seeing the prices of these items be jacked up by the US Mint. I hit my limit in 2023 when I paid $130.

Thanks for the thoughts, coinnewcomer1.
My current plans are to stop all US Mint purchases after the 2026 year. With the prices I'm just done and want to transition to classic commemoratives.
