Thanks Adam. I wasn't sure that I was going to win. My bid limit was just $19 above the price it realized and it was a crazy dash to the end on this auction. For those who may be interested: https://www.ebay.com/itm/277399677641 . The listing has the TPG grade. Just curious, what did you think would win this listing before it ended?

Part of the reason I decided not to bid is I just came across it late last night and really didn't have time to take a closer look and figure out what my max bid would be. I was thinking it would go for at least $1k more. Had the auction been closing on Sunday night with better pictures, I think it could have easily fetched more. Based on the not so great pictures, I think the grade given looks reasonable. Greysheet retail for the grade is about $2,600 more.

Appreciate you sharing. I was 50/50 that my bid would prevail. I bid an amount that I would be happy with if it held and also happy to let go if it went over. I suppose that's what everyone bids though. Also $5,151 was a an odd number that seemed to make sense at the moment. I am also looking forward to seeing the coin in hand and hearing the community's thoughts on it before and after my in hand pics.

Wow. A nice AU-55. This was one of the few dates I never got while building a set of Bust Halves in the late 1960's. I'm envious! Congrats on a great buy.

NS you are on a roll with these halves. how do you have them displayed. it would be really interesting to see them by date in an album but it sounds like you are just grabbing up what your eye is drawn to.
some crazy clashing going on as its pretty prominent. just assessing it by the photos presented I'm mid AU. I think the subdued or missing luster and eye appeal would keeo it out the 58 box so I'm going with AU55
