I'm curious as to what you think the grade for this 1903 Morgan dollar should be.

This coin is starting to take on a nice toning. It's probably just the picture so I am assuming there is still luster. I would grade it at MS-63.

Also vote MS63 - nice Morgan.

I suspect with the right lighting, this coin would show some gorgeous toning.

Although details appear complete, the nature of the luster is not revealed in these photos. There are lighter areas on the high points of Miss Liberty's cap and on the leaves and cotton bolls, plus the fields appear dull in spots. This suggests the coin has experienced a bit of circulation wear. Since the images don't allow a determination of whether the luster is actually intact over these critical areas I'd rather err on the conservative side: AU-58.

By the way, welcome to the forum!

Thanks for all of your replies and the welcome. I agree that it probably is either an AU58 or MS63. I have a hard time determining between weak strike and slight traces of wear. Either way, I do really like the appearance of this coin and it is a welcome addition to my collection.
