Well.......depends on "how" your exactly collecting.....

Most album folks will need these Satins for their albums.
Or most intact Set collectors will need them to be consistent, and maintain their numerous O.G.P. Set collections.
Some collectors need them to do a combination of both (like me!)
Some people will not pay the Mints exorbitant prices on these in the hope that they will become cheaper on the secondary market.....ie....eBay, catalogs, coin shops, etc....Some are too impatient to wait that long (and that would be me too !) ...

A lot of Mint Sets do become cheaper than issue price in time.......if your patient, you could save A LOT of money !.....but you could also "lose" that way too......some Sets gain some pretty good premiums sometimes, and then you'd have to pay MORE if you wait !

Since none of the Mints Sets this year will likely sell out this year (Uncirc., Proof, or Silver Proof), I would suggest you at least wait until you want two or three different things from the Mint. This way you don't have to pay shipping/handling charges REPEATEDLY. For instance, I know that I'm going to buy two Uncirculated Mint Sets, Two Proof Sets, and two Silver Proof Sets. But I'm going to wait until at least two or more of these are for sale at the same time, before I order.
So, if you know what you want already....you should wait a bit...it'll save ya a little moolah ! ....

If you just need a couple of coins (say the nickel and dime) buy them separately.

Yeah true eaglefoot but wont the prices go up on these considering its the first year for the union shield on the Lincoln cent, kinda like the wheat cents 1909?
and yeah I looked on there site last night, I was wanting some individual air tight capsules too and some of those cardboard holders, I have a lot of wheat pennies that are fading quickly. at the moment I have a few old 1900's from my grandma (half dollars)and a bunch of wheat pennies she passed down also and that I find roll searching, but the only real collection I'm doing right now is the memorial cents 1959-1998 so the cents really interest me that's why I initially wanted to get one this year.

and Neil you can buy them separately?

Yes you can buy them separately. I bought 12 sets of the 8 lincoln cents from mint sets. These are the modern cents to hold. A one year issue with four different designs. Only 750,000 sets total.

Oh sorry, I bought off eBay. They come in the original packaging. They are creeping up in price.

Neil is referring to the 2009 issues....which are 95% Copper like the 1909 design. You could buy them directly from the Mint in O.G.P.
The Set came with the Uncirculated Mint Sets. 8 P&D's ..... all Copper.

Or you could get the four Coppers in Proof O.G.P.'s seperately or with the Proof and Silver Proof Sets.

You had mentioned the 2010 Set which has the new Shield Cent, and I wouldn't necessarily assume that this Set or that Cent will "swing" way up in price. It is a first year issue......but these days, that happens every other week from the U.S. Mint ! .....

As much as it galls me that the mint continues to gouge the collecting public with their ridiculous selling prices and produces so many that the values really have very little chance of not only going up but keeping it's sales value, I will end up getting one. I purchased 2 sets last year as I think the quarter series, dimes and nickles with their reduced out put and the 1 year series of Lincolns made them a good value. This years set doesn't hold the same level of promise to me personally but I will buy just to have a set.

I get two of the annual sets every year to put away. This will be notable not only for the first year design of the shield cent, but also the five ATB quarters, so there might be a bit of secondary market pressure later, as the mintages of the quarters are running at 1/20th of a state quarter and difficult to find in circulation thus far. I doubt this year's set will reach the unprecedented heights like the 2008 uncirculated set, but the potential is there, even at the inflated $31.95 set price. Since I collect the halves, I just merely buy the singles instead of cutting apart or cracking open my sets. Hope this gives you some additional Insight into purchasing the sets or not.

Yes it does, thank you :) Do you think if I got it it would be something cool for my grandkids to have later, I think so because of the first shield and all, still considering if I don't get it by Christmas i'll order it :)
