At $174.95 plus $6.95 S&H, he's making about $15 after ebay and PayPal fees if he paid $139.95. He has sold 14 and has "more than ten available". clairhardesty Pillar of the Community United States 1027 Posts	Posted 05/24/2013 8:08 pm I doubt that anyone selling on ebay would be getting a mint discount even if they were offering one on this product (they aren't). Also, the volume discount amounts to 4% off of list price because the mint adds back one percent for shipping. The volume discount is only offered to specially qualified buyers on a limited set of annual products, not even on commems. I still don't understand why anyone would buy this item at a markup while it is still available from the mint. Like last year, there does not appear to be any promise that these coins won't be offered as part of some other set later in the year. Report this Post to the Staff

Doug58s Pillar of the Community United States 899 Posts	Posted 05/25/2013 07:07 am Clair - I could be wrong, but I think the mint has stated this is the only set this year - you'll find these coins in. I believe they got plenty of grief over last years release of the ASE outside this set and ruined the exclusivity of the set. I am kind of surprised that these are still trickling out and the numbers haven't jumped. I am guessing they will jump if they stay this low. Right now they sit at 208,000+ and with each coin being unique that is a pretty low number for each. Report this Post to the Staff
clairhardesty Pillar of the Community United States 1027 Posts	Posted 05/26/2013 08:53 am It does seem a little low but at the time, last year's set was also thought to contain two unique coins as well and at the same point had sold only 145,173 (vs. 208,725) so this year's set is selling at a significantly higher rate. If we simply follow last year's pattern, we will end up with around 360K units sold, a number that far outstrips historic demand for SAE special coins. The volume buyers must either believe that there will be a lot of demand from new collectors or they expect traditional buyers to up the average number of sets they are going to buy. I certainly contribute to such a notion, I am planning on buying five sets and keeping them all. It is also possible that the volume buyers are hedging against a possible low quality build and want to ensure that they get the number of perfect 70s that they think they can sell at a significant premium. If I remember right, last year's set produced a much lower percentage of 70s compared to the 2011 five coin set (where 70s were the most common grade). Report this Post to the Staff

Foxwoods Man Pillar of the Community United States 4901 Posts	Posted 05/26/2013 09:49 am The SF end of sales date was July 5th and the start of sales date for the C & C set was August 7th (announced on July 17th) ...so it was announced after sales were over...BUT....it was announced BEFORE a lot of the later SF set orders were shipped and this, added to the crappy quality, resulted in a drop of near 30,000 in the final sales due to cancellations and returns...The C & C set is STILL for sale Oh, maybe for the above reason, the SF set in the OGP has not been a money maker and occasionally sells at LESS than issue price http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-S-Amer...em2a2cecd75d Edited by Foxwoods Man 05/26/2013 09:54 am Report this Post to the Staff
