I've got a 1942 canadian king george penny that's missing the HP underneath the kings head. I was wondering what is it's value? It's very fine, you can still see the hair lines in his hair and you can make out all the wording back&front, there's no luster.

I've also got a 1945 that's in about the same condition as the 1942 maybe a little less? That has an almost filled 4 and it's not straight and is more bloated & rounded.

Could be a filled die (a part of the die was filled with something,) struck through grease (there was grease on the die or planchet when the coin was struck,) or the die was used too much and those details wore off.

I'm leaning towards and overused die. A filled die is possible, but that would be a very small detail to get filled. If it was struck through grease, I think more of the strike would have been affected.

Someone else should be able to help you out with the values.

Well thank you, that was very helpful. I was wondering why only that one part of the coin was filled and oddly shaped.

Neither one of them hold a great value or premium over the actual value of the coin in its grade. They usually come up for a buck or three. Its really only variety collectors who are after them. I believe the 45 is a die chip which allows the filling, l have similar on a few years.
