As far as I know it is. It was the result of overpolishing that specific die, thus not all the '62's have it...and you can see it progress from harp to guitar.

Overpolishing : I agree for Harp, but I don't think for Guitar.

That seems awfully isolated and uniform to be die polishing. There must be more to it than that.

This looks more like some type of Feeder Finger Damage to me or maybe another part of the press leaving an impression across the face of the die. Not really sure what to think of it.

What are you doing Scooby ? Trying to tear down a 40 years old legend with one piece of fact ? We here in Canada have been honouring this coin as a true error caused by an over enthusiastic die worker who's name currently escapes me, but has been entered in the Canadian Numismatic Historical Museum for Errors and Oversights.

For the record, I watch for this coin, but I am not actively seeking one. I am not a true believer, but maybe if I saw one I might understand the draw.

Additionally, it is not listed within either the 2010 or 2011 Charlton books that I own. According to my latest correspondence from ICCS, they would not attribute this error based on its lack of recognition by Charlton.

Edit: fixed Typo. Sorry Charlton.

Wow, that didn't take long at all.
Ok, so someone got it published in a a book. But I have a book which talks about green eggs and ham, but I don't see them in the stores either.

Seriously, I feel this coin is for those that have everything else and need a reason to keep looking. Just my 1 cents worth.

I already sold 2 1962 guitar ICCS in MS-65 condition for 250$ and 255$ on ebay.
On ebay, I saw a harp sell for $ 200 for a MS-65.
