Possible sale price of Brass Nickel coins

How much could brass Nickel coins be sold for theoretically in a large scale? Say a tonne of Brass Nickel coins, 70% copper, 24.5% Zinc and 5.5% Nickel? Would it be better to try and sell them on eBay or contact dealers abroad?

It really depends on what they are looking to do with them.

For scrap metal purposes. In other words, purely Arbitrage profit on decommissioned coins

Welcome Brass Nickel. I'm not sure about others but I need some clarification. Does "tonne of Brass Nickels" mean "ton of US Nickels"? Not sure what you mean by brass nickel. I'm not familiar with a nickel made of the composition you describe. Similar to US Nick but with Zinc.

The composition you described has less value than a regular US Nickel so my answer to your first question would be "Less than face value". To answer your last question, "Neither eBay or dealer abroad. Take them to the bank and get face value"

This isnt US currency. We had bought a large quantity of decommissioned coins of that composition and are now looking to sell them for a profit. Given it is no longer legal tender it cannot be taken back to the bank which is fine as the coins really werent worth that much in face value either.

@BrassNickel, As a metals trader myself, you will need to work with a scrap metal dealer like those found in Houston to move this kind of volume.

The people on these forums are interested in numismatic value rather than metal.

Please refrain from posting any images, they add nothing to this discussion and will ultimately go way off topic.

Instead, you will want to find a refiner or wholesale scrap metal dealer that can move this for you.

Hmmm, I would certainly be interested in seeing a picture or two of a big ol' pile of demonetized coinage I can understand though if you are not allowed to publicly disclose the country of origin.
