That's a very nice looking N-4 "Silly Head" variety, but then y'all knew that already from Dave's previous post. Interestingly, I've seen the 1839s referred to as middle dates and as late dates. My opinion is that they are a middle date coin, though the head is getting close to resembling the late date design.
I love the "Middle Dates" (1816 - 1839) and hope to complete a variety set of them ... someday ...
I actually have one of these that looks like it's made of wood. It is a warm light brown color with beautiful dark striations. Is this common? (Sorry, I don't have a scanner.)
