Legislation and Seigniorage, that is...  And when the Wikipedia link I posted specifically mentions State Quarters as a prominent example of seigniorage, you know that the Mint benefits! On one Denver Mint tour, the guide asked the school children how many of them saved State Quarters. Most hands went up, and she said "Good work, keep it up!", and I gave her the knowing look, to say "I may be the only person on this tour who really knows why you said that!" (since she had even introduced me to the group as a 'coin collector' at the start of the tour!) |

Two washers at Home Depot = 36¢ Change from self-checkout = 4¢ One of the Cents is my first BU 2009 LP2 Rail Splitter found in change = priceless!   |

I saw a customer wrapped roll of cents in the cashiers drawer and asked for it instead of 2 quarters got it home and the newest cent was a BU66 and it had 21 LWC the oldest was a 35 |

My son found a 1942 S War Nickel in change at Penn State! He is keeping it for luck with his instant lottery tickets. I hope that it works. |

Filled in two holes in my Jeffersons from Circulation set - 53P and 57D, found both in the register at work today...

A Guam-D Quarter in my change today, the third of those that I've found in change. This one is high-AU (the first two were BU), so it's managed to get a little mileage on it. You would think that hardly any Guam-D's would be found in change, given not just the 'low mintage' but the fact that the 'low' final mintage was posted before any of the coins ever left the Denver and Philadelphia Mints! These things are being hoarded like 1950-D Nickels...  Edited by DNA

hrhomer, you never know what you're gonna find in the register(s). I work in electronics for Wal-mart so I get to check both registers there, and sometimes cell phones' and photo's registers too. A customer paid me one night using exact change, including a 1909 VDB, which the nice people here graded AU-58. That's my avatar coin, by the way. |

Opened up a roll of quarters today, and one of these popped out :  It's a transit token from Atlanta. I live across the country, in San Francisco. The one I have says "Always Coca-Cola and MARTA" Joe Edited by hrhomer
