Quote: Jbuck: That coin was just released by the mint within the past month. Unbelivable find. Tell me about it! I did not realize how new it was until I looked at my album. Quote:I haven't found a circulating Yosemite, Gettysburg, Chickashaw or any of the 2012's yet. In fact I just counted my circulating ATB's and I counted only 15. So I notably impressed by your find. Thank you. I did not find my first ATB until late last year. If it were not for some outside help, I would still have some 2010 and 2011 ATB holes (which were filled when I finally bought the album earlier this year).

Thanks! At first I thought it was Canadian (silver edges), then other-foreign (too small), then I pulled it out . . . I kind of wish my coworker had had a camera, I bet my facial expression was hilarious. It'll be awhile before I top that one, I think!
Also found a really nice 2009 P4 (I think I used that term right?) in my donation canister and threw in a nondescript 1983 to replace it. I have a hard time finding any of the Centennial cents in great condition, but the ones with the Capitol on them are hardest of all--low mintage, plus anything and everything can and will get stuck to the little ridges in the Capitol roof. This one looks actually AU!

Today I cashed in some coin roll hunting dumps and I got a 1961 dime bank in my change!! I have picked out more than 50 ounces from rolls but this is my first silver coin from change (even though it was still from a bank).

Found in my donation box the other night: 1996 dime, apparently unremarkable except for what appears to be a double rim on the reverse above the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." My mom looked up "1996 dime double-die" (there's a little ding under the short arm on "LIBERTY" that led me to believe it might be a double-strike) and found an identical dime online that is labeled as a die clash.

It might be worth posting in the Error/Variety forum for opinions.

Was trading coins with the vending machine at work, and I got this 1997-D MAD dime that also appears to have been Struck Through Grease ^^

Tonight at work: 1946 penny that has an odd look on the back, like a Greaser only with the metal still raised. Think it may be a badly broken die. Need to take a closer look and make sure it's not dirt, but it seemed pretty solid.

Once in awhile I find strange and unusual coins in among the penny rolls that I search. Most come from either Bemurda and South or Central America, but from time to time I also get either a 1 or 2 euro copper coin. Any foreign coin (other than from Canada) that I get ahold of I put in a special container that is starting to get quite full. Canadian coins are kept elsewhere.
But the find that I am most impressed with is a 20 cent coin from Hong Kong that has scalloped edges. I found that in a roll of pennies.

With the help of John1 I was able to confirm that I did indeed find a 1776 - 1976s Kennedy half dollar in 40% silver while searching some half dollar rolls.
