Anyone out there have any of the newer minted Dinar notes, who thinks that the value may significantly increase over the next few years as the Iraqi's gain control back over their economy, trade, and tourism?

Just curious, as I picked some up a couple of years back, it has risen 'some' since then, but I got it more as a purely speculative long shot move.

Thoughts?

I don't see it increasing much in value. I think that Iraq will be in a financial and tourist slump for many years to come.

Rumor is that the Iraqi bank will revalue their currency soon. All the bricks of notes speculators are buying will be worthless unless they bring them to Iraq during the grace period. I have some of the lower valued notes but I'm waiting for the revaluation to add the higher value notes to my collection.

Dang. I did the same as afcop. But, I didn't spend any more than $20 if memory serves. I kind of treated it like betting on the long shot in a horse race. If the rumor is right, my horse is 20 lengths behind going into the final stretch.

I have a couple envelopes filled with hundreds Yugoslavian notes I picked up for pennies after the country broke up. I have NO idea what I was planning on doing with them.

I have $25K Dinar notes.........quite a few.

I've been to Baghdad - don't plan to go back unless the $$ is going to be REALLY worth it. Current value isn't worth it at all. I paid less than 10% of what it is currently valued at. I should probably just trade it in and be happy with that gain.
