My grandfather would save out brand new coins he got from the bank. He had rolls of war nickels, silver dimes, quarters, etc.

We are the examples, children learn from.

I dunno, but they sure are beautiful - are they proofs? I pulled a 59 out of circulation yesterday, but it didn't anything like that!

I dont know, but that price seems on the high side. I bought a few Bu dime rolls from the '40's from my dealer not to long ago fro less than $100 each.

SDcoinguy,
I too think that price is a little high.

You can find BU rolls if you just watch for them. Just like now, collectors putting away rolls of state quarters ... 2009 nickles and dimes ... they did it back then too. Coins shops would do it so they could have coins for their customers who were putting together sets.

Here is a few I have put away. 1958 BU roll of cents, nickels and quarters. And a BU roll 1961 cents and proof roll of 1961 nickels.

there are plenty of BU rolls still out there in original wrappers so this is not anything unusual. My grandfather had a whole box full of pre-64 dimes quarters and nickels still in the wrapper, probably a couple thousand dollars face value of them

Yeah not really unusual. My dealer will sell BU rolls of common dates at just above melt.
